Exploring the Relationship Between Reiki and Spiritual / Religious Beliefs

In this blog, we will explore the relationship between Usui/Holy Fire ® Reiki and Religious beliefs. I will share some about my personal experience with Reiki, opening my heart to connection with God. Working with Jesus and Archangels in my sessions is a part of my practice that is very special to me. I am grateful for Reiki and it’s part in my connection with the divine.

Reiki is a healing technique that is becoming increasingly popular around the world. It is a form of energy healing that originated in Japan in the early 20th century. The meaning of the word Reiki is Rei (spiritually guided) Ki (life force energy). Ki flows through us all, allowing us to live at our fullest potential. As life happens, stress can accumulate allowing a cycle to occur. Our thoughts and emotions can begin to cause blockages in our physical and energetic bodies. In the system of Reiki we call these blockages ”Byoki”. This Byoki can lead us to pain, disease and distress within our body. Reiki meets the energetic body and the physical body and collaborates with them by calming the nervous system, aligning our energy centers, helping our bodies flow energy and heal themselves. Helping to break the energetic pull of the stress cycle.

Reiki practitioners channel Reiki into the body, by placing their hands lightly or hovering over the body while the client is fully and comfortable. While most sessions take place on a massage table, a recliner is available if it is better suited for the client. Distant reiki is an amazing technique that Mandy practices with clients that live far away. Reiki is received beautifully via a picture, or some kind of electronic connection. Meditation always helps the client settle into the session. This can help someone gain meditation skills as they practice Reiki. The benefits of a session can be compared to multiple meditation sessions!

One of the beautiful things about Reiki is that it is a non-invasive and gentle therapy that can be used in conjunction with other healing modalities. It can support and enhance the benefits of other therapies, such as massage, acupuncture, or psychotherapy. Reiki can help people relax and reduce stress, which can be beneficial for people dealing with a variety of health issues

Mikao Usui is responsible for forming a system around Reiki allowing it to be spread from teacher to student. The system included the Five Reiki Ideals, symbols and using attunements to pass on Reiki to others. The Original Reiki Ideals are used as a tool for intention and meditation to start and end each day with. The secret art of inviting happiness “Just for today Do not be angry, Do not worry, Be filled with gratitude, devote yourself to your work, be compassionate and kind to people.”

Usui/Holy Fire® III is a form of Reiki that was developed by William Lee Rand. The Holy Fire aspect of this form of Reiki is a type of energy that is said to be of a higher frequency and vibration than traditional Reiki energy. Reiki energy is not limited, we can all be trained and attuned to Reiki. No special skills are needed. Usui/Holy Fire® III Reiki is often learned by practitioners who are seeking a deeper connection to the divine within.

Reiki is often associated with spirituality and can be practiced with or without any religious affiliations. Reiki has been allowed to develop as an intuitive energy. One lineage that has grown from this is Usui/Holy Fire® III. This energy has also been upgraded to World Peace Reiki.

It is important to understand that Reiki is not a religion. It has no religious dogma or belief system affiliated with God. Reiki is a holistic healing practice that works with the body, mind, and spirit. As Spiritually guided life force energy, it is an intuitive energy and assists the practitioner in the session. From the time a practitioner is attuned to Reiki, the Reiki is assisting them in healing themselves first. Many people are attuned to Reiki to use as a self development tool. Being attuned and trained in Reiki is an amazing tool for empathic people to protect their energy fields. People that work with the public, in health related fields, mental health, and so many careers that people could use Reiki on. Another benefit of being attuned is being able to give yourself sessions

Usui/ Holy Fire ® Reiki energy can help promote relaxation, reduce stress, and relieve pain. As the body aligns itself it begins to move into a state of well-being and ease in healing itself. Reiki is not a substitute for medical care, but rather a complementary therapy that can be used alongside traditional treatments. It is Mandy’s dream to see that within her lifetime. Being a normal thing for Western medicine to merge with Reiki and other forms of energetic work.

One of the misconceptions about Reiki is that it is somehow in conflict with religion. Reiki can be practiced by people of any religion or spiritual belief system. In fact, Reiki can be a powerful tool for those who are seeking to deepen their connection with their faith. I have personally experienced this since my decision to be attuned and practice Reiki in my daily life. Reiki has opened my heart and healed so much of my past trauma, including religious dogma. This has allowed me to invite in a new relationship with Jesus. I continue to grow this connection through my practice. Praying during sessions for Jesus and specific angels such as Archangel Michael to assist Reiki in clearing attachments from my clients. I ask for them and Reiki to remove these energies, taking them back to their origin. I lean on Reiki and these ascended Masters during sessions.

Many practitioners of Reiki see it as a way to connect with the healing power of God. They believe that the energy channeled during a Reiki session is the same life-force energy that flows through all of creation, including human beings, animals, plant life and so much more life that we may not be aware of. Similarly, practitioners of other religions can see Reiki as a way to connect with their higher power. Some see it from a Shamanic perspective which would be from the connection with the Earth, elements and Creator. The message of Usui/ Holy Fire III World Peace Reiki ® Is one of union. A message that we should all come together. Collaboration is needed as we move through this time. We should not be divided by our beliefs. We should be focusing on our connection with the divine and cultivating that rather than being worried about everyone else’s beliefs conflicting with ours.

In conclusion, Reiki can be practiced by people of any religion or spiritual belief system. Reiki has no religious affiliation. It can be used to support and enhance any religion. Even agnostics are atheists. Reiki is a holistic therapy that works with the body, mind, and spirit to promote relaxation, reduce stress, and relieve pain. Whether you are seeking to deepen your connection with your faith or simply looking for a way to support your overall mental health and wellbeing, Reiki can be a powerful tool for you to have in your wellness toolkit.
